What is Lymphatic Drainage Reflexology?
· by Cathy Whitmore
Of all the treatments I offer, lymphatic drainage reflexology is the one people ask about most. Here is what it is and why clients love it.
Your lymphatic system, in plain words
The lymphatic system is your body’s drainage network. It carries fluid, filters waste and supports your immune system. Unlike your blood, it has no pump of its own. It relies on movement and gentle stimulation to keep flowing. When it slows down you may notice puffy ankles, fluid retention or a heavy, sluggish feeling.
What makes this treatment different
Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage is a method developed in the United Kingdom by reflexologist Sally Kay during her work in cancer care. I trained in her method and it has become a favourite in my studio. Rather than a general foot session, it follows a precise, rhythmic sequence over the lymphatic reflexes of the feet. The touch is light and repetitive, and deeply soothing.
Who finds it helpful
Clients often book it when they are dealing with swollen or tired legs, fluid retention, or that puffy feeling after travel or long days on their feet. Others simply want to support their immune system through the seasons. As with all reflexology, it does not diagnose or cure any condition. It gives your body the rest and gentle stimulation it needs to do its own work.
What a session looks like
You lie on a warm massage table with a cosy blanket while I work on your feet for a full 90 minutes. Most people are asleep within twenty. The session costs $130. If it is your first visit, please allow an extra 15 to 20 minutes for a health and lifestyle chat first.
Curious whether it would suit you? Book online, or call me on 022 124 2957 and I will happily talk it through.
